Energy in Storage at Plouguin
With a capacity of 3.3 MWh, the storage unit at Plouguin serves three main purposes:
- Consolidating the stability of the French and particularly Breton electrical grid,
- Supporting the deployment of large-capacity energy storage,
- Contributing to the integration of renewable energies into the electrical grid.
The storage project was entrusted to Boralex following a call for expressions of interest launched by the Regional Council of Brittany in 2019. Labeled and supported by the local association Smile (Smart Ideas to Link Energies), the project was co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER, in french). The solution used in the project was developed by Entech, a company specializing in storage systems and based in Quimper (Finistère).
