Alain Rhéaume is a corporate director, proven leader and pioneer with a reputation for tackling major challenges in both the public and the private sectors.
He co-founded and was the Managing Partner of Trio Capital Inc., a private investment company in the telecommunications sector. Over time, he has held many senior management positions, acquiring extensive experience in strategic planning, financing, treasury, sales and acquisitions, tax policy, budgets and dealings with financial institutions. He has also developed and implemented major investment and turnaround projects, and led operations in the telecommunications sector.
During a 22-year-long career at the Ministère des Finances du Québec, Alain Rhéaume was Associate Deputy Minister from 1987 to 1992 and Deputy Minister from 1992 to 1996. In these roles, he advised the government on economic, tax and budgetary policy and strategy, and oversaw the privatization of several large investments in multiple industrial sectors. He then joined Microcell Telecommunications (the original parent company of Fido) where, over the course of 10 years, he held such roles as CFO, Executive Vice President, and President and COO, which allowed him to participate in all stages of the company’s evolution.
Alain Rhéaume is an alumnus of Université Laval, where he earned an undergraduate degree in business administration and completed the coursework portion of a master’s degree in policy analysis. An expert in corporate governance, he has served on the boards of numerous public and private companies, most notably in the sectors of finance, high techology, media, engineering, energy, biotech, manufacturing and retail sectors, as well as several regulatory bodies for financial market activities and public accounting.
