About the Coteaux du Blaiseron Wind Farm
The Côteau du Blaiseron wind farm consists of eight wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.2 MW, arranged in two rows of four turbines across the municipalities of Baudrecourt, Dommartin-le-Saint-Père, and Doulevant-le-Château.
In addition to a bird detection system, an agricultural curtailment plan has been implemented, demonstrating strong collaboration with local farmers. An agreement has also been signed with the environmental association Centre Permanent d’Initiatives pour l’Environnement Sud-Champagne with the goal of co-developing educational content on biodiversity and energy.
A Bird Detection System
To protect birdlife, particularly raptors observed near the park’s wind turbines, the IdentiFlight© Avian Detection System was installed in 2021 and 2022.
The system consists of a set of high-resolution cameras powered by algorithms that detect and identify large birds at long distances. If a raptor approaches too close to the turbines, a signal is sent to stop them and prevent any risk of collision. The sole purpose of this camera system is to protect species such as the red kite, black kite, and black stork. Images of walkers near the cameras are not recorded.
- This is the first site in France to receive approval for this active detection system aimed at reducing impacts on birdlife. Learn more on our engagements to biodiversity.
