Why Develop a Wind Project in Vinets?
The choice of the municipality of Vinets to host a wind project is no coincidence. As with any project of this kind, numerous checks were carried out beforehand to ensure the site is suitable: environmental protection, landscape integration, absence of military or technical constraints, and more.
However, a major obstacle had until now prevented any wind project in the area: the presence of a nearby Météo France radar. This radar is protected by a regulatory perimeter because wind turbines can interfere with its operation. That is why no project had been possible until today.
To overcome this constraint, Boralex, in collaboration with other industry stakeholders, launched a groundbreaking project in France: the creation of a so-called “compensation radar.” This new piece of equipment, developed in agreement with Météo France, will offset any potential interference.
